If your estate is worth less than £300,000 or you leave everything to your spouse (provided they live in the UK) or you leave everything to a UK-Registered Charity you are exempt from Inheritance Tax.

If you fall outside these parameters it can get a little complicated. You can confirm your worst suspicions with the Inland Revenue.
